It's been a good February. Progress released the debut a week ago and we're already almost out of the ones we printed. Can't ask for much more than that. (If you want one, go to our Bandcamp page.) We have a few ideas that we're going to try out over the next few weeks, too. On February 28, for example, instead of the normal hit at One2One, the band is going to do "Progress Presents: music of D'Angelo," where we invite some of our favorite Austin vocalists to sing songs by one of our favorite artists ever. Rumor has it that we might be doing it more than once, too. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out!
Nelo's new album, which we've been working on since last summer, will be out in May, as well. I'm proud of the cohesive sound the band's been able to achieve, and I hope this helps Matt Ragland get his propers as a songwriter. A lot of people are really going to like this album.
We're talking with our homeys the Funky Knuckles about putting together a little spring mini-tour through the old Snarky Puppy circa 2007 circuit: Denton/Dallas, Austin, Houston, maybe San Antonio, Lafayette LA, Hattiesburg MS, and New Orleans. I really, really hope we can make that happen, because I haven't been to Hattiesburg or New Orleans since 2009 and a visit is way overdue. Besides, I miss the Thirsty Hippo.
South By Southwest is coming up, and I'll be playing a lot of public shows in the next couple months. Here are some of them.
